DAY 1: OVERNIGHT FLIGHT
Depart from the USA on an overnight flight. Dinner and breakfast will be served on board.
DAY 2: SALZBURG
Arrive in Munich where you are met by your tour manager. Transfer to the musical city of Mozart, Salzburg, for check in at your hotel. Unpack and begin to explore this charming city on your own.
DAY 3: SALZBURG
Tour the city of proud princes and archbishops, including Mozart’s house, the Sound of Music churchyard, and a funicular ride up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress. Free afternoon to browse along the medieval streets or to savor strudel at a local café. Prepare for this evening’s concert after dinner.
DAY 4: VIENNA
Drive to the great Baroque abbey-palace of Melk, which Napoleon used as his headquarters. In the afternoon relive the Vienna of Strauss waltzes on your Danube cruise. Continue to the city of baroque façades, Vienna, for dinner and the overnight.
DAY 5: VIENNA
Sightseeing shows you the splendors of the city, starting with the Schönbrunn Palace. See the magnificent buildings around the Ringstrasse—the Opera House and the Hofburg. In your free afternoon why not explore one of the city’s fine museums? Perhaps you’d like to visit the Kunsthaus, home to the works of Hundertwasser. This evening is your ensemble’s second performance.
DAY 6: Budapest
This morning journey through rich orchards and vineyards to the Hungarian capital. Arrive in Budapest for sightseeing. Learn about Hungary’s thousand-year history during a guided tour of Castle Hill, including Matthias Church. This evening enjoy a traditional gypsy dinner!
DAY 7: BUDAPEST
Today is free to explore this city’s graces from its medieval buildings to its charming cobble-stoned streets. Why not visit the Historical Museum of Budapest, which contains archaeological remains of the old city, as well as furnishings, glass and ceramics from the 15th century. Perform for the locals of this enchanting city this evening after dinner.
DAY 8: PRAGUE
Drive across Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, full of streams and thick forests, to Prague for time to relax. Sample a bramborak snack at a coffee bar in the old town.
DAY 9: PRAGUE
Welcome to one of Central Europe’s prettiest cities! Take a guided tour of the mammoth Hradcany Castle complex with its Archbishop’s Palace (setting for the movie Amadeus), the 14th century Charles Bridge and the checkerboard streets of medieval Prague. Free time to stroll down the Golden Lane, once a den of alchemists, or explore the Prague Ghetto, which contains Europe’s oldest Jewish cemetery. This evening perform your final concert of the tour.
DAY 10: BERLIN
Today is a full day’s drive to Germany’s capital, Berlin with a stop in Dresden for some free time and lunch! Arrive in Berlin in time for dinner and a stroll along Unter den Linden Boulevard.
DAY 11: BERLIN
Imperial Berlin is today’s guided sightseeing theme. From the Baroque façades of the imperial quarter to the gardens of Charlottenburg Palace, you will marvel at the splendor with which the emperors surrounded themselves. Enjoy dinner your last night in Europe.
DAY 12: RETURN TO THE USA
