ACIS® was established in 1978 in Boston. Worldwide offices are located in Atlanta, Chicago, London, Paris and Sacramento, with affiliated offices in Athens, Cairo, Copenhagen, Istanbul, Madrid, Nairobi, Rome, San Jose and Sydney. In 1987, ACIS® became the educational travel division of AIFS, Inc. and an affiliate of the American Institute for Foreign Study. This merger has helped make ACIS® the strongest, most dynamic and most broadly based educational travel organization in the USA. Founded in 1964, AIFS is a leading worldwide sponsor of educational programs abroad. 800,000 people have participated in AIFS programs over the past four decades. Other members of the AIFS group are:

AIFS College Division, which arranges semester and summer school courses for college students throughout Europe, Asia and South America. One of these campus locations is Richmond College in London.
