Encore Tours Photography Contest

Packing for your Encore trip? Don’t forget your camera!

Encore Tours is seeking submissions for a new 2008 photography contest. We want to see some of the best photographs that you take during your trip. Just organize a few highlights (say 3 to 10 in a series), then email them to us and you will be in the running to win some great prizes!

4 entries will be chosen and proudly displayed on our website.

• Grand Prize- $500 to Amazon.com
• 1st Place- $300 to Amazon.com
• 2nd Place- $200 to Amazon.com
• 3rd Place- $100 to Amazon.com

What We're Looking For:

Travel photography is easy. We’ve all seen beautiful shots of exotic cities and locations. We are looking for a series of photographs that take a unique approach to travel... particularly performance travel. Performing in incredible venues abroad is an awe-inspiring experience, and we want you to communicate that in your photos.

While you’re abroad, try to find ways to communicate a story about your experience. Capture photos of the audience, of your orchestra or choir in dress rehearsal... set up a tripod to take photos of your group as you perform. Instead of a standard group photo, get candid photos of your group bowing after performing or a close-up of your friend during a solo.

We want you to be a Traveler, not a Tourist. Think about capturing a cultural experience, or that unique moment when your friend learns something new. Think National Geographic meets Mr. Holland's Opus.

Our Guidelines:

The 2008 Encore Tours Photography Contest is open only to 2008 Encore Tours travelers. All photos submitted must be the original work of the Encore traveler submitting them.

1. First, upload your photos to Flickr.com. If you don’t have a Flickr account, you can easily create one at Flickr.com using a Yahoo account.

2. Put your series into a Set. Make sure to include “Encore Contest” in the title of the Set. Then add the photos to our “Encore Photo Contest” Group. This way you can share it with everyone!

3. Next email Encore high resolution copies to contest@acis.com. (Please note: We will approve the photo for public viewing on the Flickr group once we receive and approve the high-resolution copy).

Remember to include the following information in your email:

• Your name and Encore Tours/ACIS Account ID number
• Your school/group name
• Your group leader’s name
• The name of your trip

Future Encore Tours advertising and publicity material may include photographs submitted to the contest. By entering the contest you consent to the use of your photographs and photographic likenesses.

4. If possible, please zip or stuff your photos. If you have trouble emailing your series, try using YouSendit.com. This is a free site that enables you to send large files without needing your email server.

Special Notes:

• The higher the resolution the better. Shoot for 300 dpi.
• Color and B&W images will be accepted.
• Your entries will be judged on composition of the image and significance of the content, meaning we don’t want posed pictures in front of monuments. Again, think National Geographic.

We are accepting submissions for the 2008 contest between April 1st and August 15th. The winners will be announced on September 5th, 2008.
