Happy New Year from Encore!
As the New Year dawns, we'd like to welcome you to our first
e-newsletter. We strive to offer you valuable information and a little amusement with each of our bimonthly e-newsletters in the year to come. As always, we hope to see you performing around the world in 2006.
Festivals Around the World
Every year we send our travelers off to experience the world–our participants have analyzed the Mona Lisa and Michaelangelo's David, they have performed in Europe's best venues, and experienced Shakespeare in the Globe Theatre.
But as our experienced traveler's know, there is always more to discover and more to experience beyond our front door. So in our first
e-newsletter, we thought we'd give you a little sampling of some of the lesser-known international experiences that draw only the most adventurous foreigners each year.
Our favorite, the 4-day National Yodeling Festival is a Swiss event that attracted more than 180,000 guests and 3,600 contestants that yodel their way to the top. Sadly, the next competition will not occur until 2008 in Lucerne.
The annual Oulu Music Video Festival is home to another event we simply can’t ignore. Yes, the Air Guitar World Championships are no urban legend—they have been a staple of this massive Finish festival since 1996 and celebrated their 10-year anniversary in 2005. Rock on!
Last but certainly not least, the Underwater Music Festival takes place on our own shores each July in delightfully sun-drenched and wacky Key West, Fla. Divers and snorkelers explore a submerged art gallery while music is broadcast through special loudspeakers
attached to the local reef. Past events have even included Elvis look-alikes playing underwater guitar. If you’re up for a submerged symphony performance, you know who to call!
