On Thursday, May 28, our friends at ACIS launched a brand new series of free virtual events to keep travelers connected with international cultures at a time of restricted travel. In their first live event, tour manager Dimitra Neonakis took a virtual journey through a key aspect of ancient Greek culture: the Greek column. This icon of architecture unlocks a surprising amount about the ancient Greek world, from the mythological to the mathematical, and it still has an influence on Greek architecture to this very day. Dimitra’s presentation includes an introduction to the three main Ancient Greek architectural column orders, accompanied by historical background and photos showing the elements of each column. Watch Dimitra’s episode of ACIS Connect (Note: Presentation begins at the 10:50 mark) Have any questions for the Encore team? Please email questions@encoretours.com.
