*This post has been updated as of 11/23/2025 to reflect the most recent pricing updates. As of November 27, 2024, eligible travelers from the U.S., Canada, Australia, and other non-European countries can begin applying online for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before traveling to or transiting through the United Kingdom. While the application process opens in November, the ETA will not be mandatory for travel or transit through the UK until January 8, 2025. This new requirement applies to all visitors staying in the UK. and each Encore traveler must complete this process on their own — your group leader or Encore Tours cannot complete this for you. The ETA is now mandatory for stays of up to six months for purposes such as tourism, visiting family, business, or short-term study. Passengers are required to secure their own ETA before traveling. The application can be completed online or through the UK ETA App, costs approximately $20 USD (16 GBP), and typically takes about three working days for approval. Travelers can still board flights to the UK while their application is being processed, and approved ETAs are valid for two years. To make the application process simple, Encore has created a step-by-step guide to applying for the ETA. Be sure to review this guide in advance to ensure compliance with the new regulations and avoid travel disruptions. ETIAS Update The EU Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) visa waiver will be required for all travel to the EU, even for stays of less than 90 days. This new waiver system is expected to be implemented in mid-2025, though an official start date has not yet been announced. Updates will be provided as soon as more details become available. For additional information, please visit the official UK ETA website or contact us at questions@encoretours.com. We’re here to help ensure your travel plans are seamless and stress-free.
