Granada Music Festival

Held annually in the stunning city of Granada, Spain, the Granada International Music and Dance Festival is one of the most prestigious cultural events in Europe. Established in 1883, this celebrated festival blends the beauty of the Alhambra Palace with world-class performances in music, dance, flamenco, and more. Every summer, artists from across the globe gather to perform in historical venues such as the Palacio de Carlos V, the Generalife Theatre, and the Corral del Carbon, creating an unforgettable experience for festival-goers.

The 2024 festival, which ran from June 7 to July 14, was a magical event featuring 116 performances, including highlights such as:

  • Spanish, contemporary, and classical dance performances from Blanca Li, Lucía Lacarra, and the Antonio Gades Company, including the revival of the famous ‘Blood Wedding’
  • British pianist Paul Lewis performing all 12 of Schubert’s sonatas
  • The Viennese Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Lorenzo Viotti, with a breathtaking concert at the Palacio de Carlos V
  • Flamenco stars such as Sara Baras and David Palomar, who brought the soul of Andalusian music and dance to life
  • A night of Fado with the incredible voice of Mariza, linking the traditions of Spain and Portugal

In addition to ticketed performances, the FEX (Festival Extension) program offered a range of free activities in the streets, theaters, and squares of Granada, bringing the magic of music and dance to the public and showcasing up-and-coming local talent.
