Stare down 1,000 feet at the edge of an active volcano's crater, visit two spectacular national parks, relax on beautiful sandy beaches, visit a local high school and perform with students from a local youth orchestra.
Fly to Costa Rica for an exciting tropical musical adventure! Arrive in San Jose, meet your Encore Tour Manager, then board your touring bus for transfer to Monteverde, home of the cloud forest. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and have dinner together this evening. Tonight, you may decide to join an optional jungle tour of a private biological reserve with a local guide!
After breakfast, provided each morning of your tour, begin a service project for a nearby community. Suggested activity is visiting a local school to help paint and refurbish one of the classrooms, then have an opportunity to perform a short concert for the kids. This afternoon, explore the beautiful cloud forest! Founded in the 1950s by a group of Quakers from Alabama, Monteverde Cloud Forest is home to more than 400 species of birds, 100 species of mammals and 2,500 species of plants. Afterward, return to your hotel for a quick opportunity to freshen up, then begin preparations for your debut performance in a local church! Dinner will be served as a group tonight.
After breakfast, journey to the Carara Biological Reserve, the unique point where the dry tropical forest meets the northern, greener rainforest. The park protects the river basin of the River Tárcoles, near Orotina and includes one of the largest remaining populations of wild Scarlet Macaws in the country. After your visit of this beautiful National Park, continue along the Pacific coast to Jaco Beach, a beautiful volcanic black sand beach on the Pacific. Get settled into your hotel, then head back out for an exciting aerial tram ride and zipline canopy tour through the rainforest! Afterward, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.
After breakfast, depart for a half-day excursion to Manuel Antonio National Park, one of the most popular parks in Costa Rica and one of the last remaining natural habitats of the squirrel monkey. Your guide takes you through some of the forest trails, stopping for a swim on the way. After some time for lunch, return to Jaco for your next performance in a local church! Have dinner together this evening following the concert.
Enjoy a leisurely morning visiting the beach, or decide to join an optional zipline canopy tour through the rainforest! Later today, depart the coast and head north to the Cartago province. Upon arrival, visit the Santiago Apostol Parish Ruins which are now beautiful gardens. Today, perform your next concert! Continue on to San Jose for check in to your hotel and dinner together this evening.
Board your touring bus this morning and begin a city sightseeing tour. Your tour includes entrance to the Gold Museum and the famous Opera House, modeled after the Opera Garnier in Paris and built with the help of coffee taxes! This afternoon, transfer to your venue for rehearsal, then perform your final concert with a local ensemble from the Institute of Music! Have dinner together after the concert.
Begin your final day in Costa Rica with a tour of the Poas Volcano National Park and Doka Coffee Plantation; lunch is included. Poas Volcano is one of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world. You can stand at the edge of its crater and look down 1,000 feet to the geyser-like eruptions. Enjoy a farewell dinner tonight with a Latin show to celebrate your successful performance tour of Costa Rica!
