Itinerary

4 Days / 3 Washington D.C.

Welcome to Washington, D.C.! Meet your Encore Tour Manager at the hotel before riding into downtown, where you’ll have dinner and time to shop for souvenirs. After dinner, depart on an illuminated tour of the monuments and institutions of our nation’s capital. The tour concludes with a visit to the Martin Luther King, Jr. and Jefferson Memorials. The view from the Jefferson Memorial’s steps is spectacular, especially at night when a halo of blue light crowns the dome. End your evening with a visit to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, one of the most beautiful and expansive memorials in the city. Its landscaped grounds are divided into four outdoor galleries, one for each of FDR’s terms in office.

Today’s highlight will be your Festival of Music performances. Each ensemble will have the opportunity to perform, be adjudicated and receive a workshop from a panel of renowned music educators. If time allows, this afternoon visit the Smithsonian Museum of your choice. Tonight have dinner as a group and attend a play at Ford’s Theater (Pending availability: if tickets are not available to a Ford’s Theater production, another performance will be booked).

This morning, enjoy a guided tour of the US Capitol Building where you’ll see the magnificent 180-foot-high rotunda, the old Supreme Court chambers, and (if available) the House and Senate galleries. Have lunch on your own in the Capitol’s visitor center. This afternoon, you’ll have your Festival of Music Awards Ceremony (pending confirmation). Then visit the International Spy Museum – an interactive, in depth look at the covert world of espionage and intelligence! Tonight, enjoy a dinner cruise on the Potomac River followed by music and dancing with the professional on-board DJ!

Before heading home, visit Mount Vernon to explore the country’s history at George Washington’s home. A possible performance may be available today. Enjoy lunch on your own, then depart for your return trip home.
