Itinerary

On arrival in Norwich, check into your comfortable hotel where you will be based for the week of your residency. Enjoy a relaxing, welcome dinner together with your tour manager this evening before having a good night’s sleep. (D)

Enjoy a hearty English breakfast this morning, included throughout your stay. This morning, a local guide will lead you on a half-day guided tour of Norwich’s city center, highlights include Norwich Cathedral, Elm Hill, Norwich Market Place, Strangers’ Hall, Pulls Ferry, Guildhall, Jarrold and much more. Today, head out to Sandringham Estate, a private home of reigning British Queen, Elizabeth II. Both the Monarch’s father, George VI, and grandfather, George V, saw their last days at Sandringham Estate that has some 20,000-acres in an area of Britain’s Outstanding Natural Beauty. Today, we will also make a quick stop to visit Castle Rising, a beautiful example of a Norman Castle. After your visit, return to Norwich for your next Evensong performance at the cathedral. Dinner is included for everyone this evening. (B,D)

Today’s full day excursion will start at the beautiful Ely Cathedral with its unique octagonal tower and fan-vaulted ceiling. Continue to the glorious market town of Bury St Edmonds. Incredibly historic and the “jewel in Suffolk’s crown”, Bury St Edmonds offers a magnificent cathedral and a ruined medieval abbey the size of a small town! The city was the rival to Norwich in the early medieval period and had far greater prestige because it was the burial place of King Edmund the Martyr, killed by the Danes. The abbey church was the largest in England at one point and the medieval centre is perfectly intact. Here, the barons once gathered to discuss plans for Magna Carta. The town has been described as “one of the chief architectural glories of the kingdom!” Dinner is included this evening on return to Norwich. (B,D)

This morning, travel to nearby Cambridge, a stunning English city that is home to one of England’s elite universities. A local guide will show you the many highlights of this fine city. Enjoy outdoor viewings of several Colleges, Fitzwilliam Museum, Mathematical Bridge, Bridge of Sighs, the historic Eagle pub and much more. Entrance to King’s College and Chapel is included. Return to Norwich later today in time for your Evensong performance at the cathedral. Dinner is together tonight. (B,D)

After breakfast, board the bus and travel to Great Yarmouth, one of England’s best-known seaside towns. You will visit the Nelson Museum, the Elizabethan House Museum and enjoy free time in Great Yarmouth. Later, return to Norwich for your evensong performance followed by dinner together. (B,D)

This morning, enjoy a visit & guided tour of Plantation Garden and Stranger’s Hall. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore Norwich on your own. Your tour manager is always on hand to offer advice and suggestions for activities or short excursions. Dinner is included following your Evensong performance. (B,D)

This morning, the choir will sing at the cathedral’s Sunday morning Eucharist. After your final performance at the great cathedral, spend a final relaxing afternoon in Norwich before enjoying a celebratory farewell dinner together with your choral friends this evening! (B,D)

Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States or continue your travels in Great Britain or across the Channel in Europe! (B)
