Itinerary

4 Days / 3 Washington D.C.

Welcome to Washington, D.C.! Meet your Encore Tour Managers at the hotel before transferring downtown, where you’ll have dinner and time to shop for souvenirs. After dinner, depart on an illuminated tour of the monuments and institutions of our nation’s capital. The tour concludes with a visit to the Martin Luther King, Jr. and Jefferson Memorials. The view from the Jefferson Memorial steps is spectacular, especially at night when a halo of blue light crowns the dome. End your evening with a visit to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, one of the most beautiful and expansive memorials in the city. Its landscaped grounds are divided into four outdoor galleries, one for each of FDR’s terms in office.

Today begin your exploration of DC with a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol. Please note: Encore will make every effort to secure your group a tour at the U.S. Capitol; if this is not possible, groups will visit the Supreme Court or Library of Congress. Have lunch on your own, then perform for members of the military at the Armed Forces Retirement Home (pending approval). This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the Ford’s Theatre where Abraham Lincoln was shot, followed by dinner and tickets to a theater performance (pending availability).

This morning, journey to Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington. Enjoy a visit to his mansion and have time to explore the beautiful grounds. A possible performance will be available today. Have time for lunch on your own, then head downtown where you will explore the world of Intelligence at the newly opened International Spy Museum! Learn the art, history and psychology of international espionage as you work through this interactive experience. Then put on your dance shoes and get ready to dine and dance the evening away on a Potomac River Cruise.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then have the morning to explore the Smithsonian Museum of your choice. Perhaps learn about millions of years of evolution with a visit to the National Museum of Natural History or visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, music, and culture. Have time for lunch on your own, the depart for your return trip home.
