The Boston Symphony Hall Orchestra Event invites select ensembles to perform in one of the world’s most celebrated concert halls, known for its extraordinary acoustics and landmark reputation. Designed for school, youth, collegiate, community, and adult orchestras, this two-day experience combines clinician-led coaching on the Symphony Hall campus, an evening at a Boston Symphony Orchestra performance, and a concert performance block on the Symphony Hall stage. The Boston Symphony Hall Orchestra Event is designed to give directors a clear, professionally coordinated experience centered on education, performance, and ensemble growth. 01 Performance Block Each participating ensemble receives a dedicated concert performance block on the Boston Symphony Hall stage, following a Sunday soundcheck. 02 Clinician-Led Sessions Saturday, students take part in sectionals by instrument family and a rotating ensemble clinic led by a professional clinician on the Symphony Hall campus. 03 Lunch Lunch is included during the event days, giving participating groups a natural time to reset and connect. 04 Boston Symphony Orchestra Performance Saturday evening, attend a Boston Symphony Orchestra performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 as a group. 05 Encore Coordination Encore provides event-day coordination, planning guidance, and production support from inquiry through performance day. 06 Professional Development Credit Music educators have the opportunity to receive graduate-level professional development credit for attendance. Symphony Hall’s stage is not available to us on Saturday, so the event is built around a Saturday of off-stage preparation and a Sunday performance. Exact timing and spaces may vary by ensemble needs and final program design. Saturday 8:00 AM Arrival and Check-In Arrive at the Symphony Hall campus during your assigned window. Encore staff greets your group and helps you settle into the day’s flow. 9:00 AM–12:00 PM Sectionals and Clinic Sessions Participate in clinician-led sectionals by instrument family and a focused ensemble clinic, held on the Symphony Hall campus and shared across all participating ensembles. 12:00–1:00 PM Lunch and Free Time Lunch break shared across all participating groups, followed by free time to explore Boston ahead of the evening’s performance. Evening Boston Symphony Orchestra: Mahler 3 Attend a Boston Symphony Orchestra performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 as a group, an evening of world-class orchestral performance ahead of your own. Sunday Morning Return to Symphony Hall & Soundcheck Return to Boston Symphony Hall for a soundcheck on the stage and a brief production orientation ahead of the afternoon performance. Afternoon Symphony Hall Performance Block Take the stage for your assigned performance block in Boston Symphony Hall. Professional pacing, efficient changeovers, and a true concert-hall environment make this the signature moment of the event. After Wrap-Up and Departure Group photo opportunity, as available, final notes, and departure. Post-event follow-up may include clinician feedback and next-step guidance depending on program scope. Sunday brings your ensemble back to Symphony Hall for a soundcheck and the dedicated performance block that’s the heart of the event. What types of orchestras can participate? School, youth, community, collegiate, and adult orchestras are welcome. Participation is limited, and we prioritize ensembles that are prepared for a polished, high-visibility venue experience. Do we need to share repertoire to submit interest? No. You can submit interest without repertoire. If you would like clinician input on your programming choices, you are welcome to share your repertoire once scheduling details are confirmed. How do we get started? Use the Request Event Details button to share your ensemble type, approximate size, and event goals. Encore will follow up with participation details and next steps. Can I customize this event? Yes. While the core event is designed as a structured two-day educational program, groups may choose to add optional elements such as hotel stays, meals, sightseeing, or additional musical experiences. Why does this event span two days? Symphony Hall’s stage is not available to us on Saturday, so the event is built around a Saturday of clinician-led sectionals and ensemble clinics on the Symphony Hall campus, followed by a Saturday evening Boston Symphony Orchestra performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 3. Ensembles return Sunday for a soundcheck and their performance on the Symphony Hall stage in the afternoon. Is transportation included? No. Transportation is available as an optional add-on and is not included in the base program price. Encore can discuss transportation support or broader travel planning needs upon request. What is the payment schedule? A $300 initial payment will be invoiced after registration and is due upon receipt. The $300 initial payment is risk-free for 30 days after registration, or until 130 days prior to the event, whichever comes first. Registrations completed within 130 days of the event are not eligible for the 30-day risk-free initial payment period. Final balances will be invoiced separately and payment is due no later than 120 days prior to the event. If registration is completed within 130 days of the event, full payment is due immediately and the cancellation policy applies immediately upon registration. Do you offer protection plans for this program? All participants are covered by Encore Tours’ Basic Protection Plan. Upgraded protection plan options are not available for this two-day program.
