St. Andrew’s Church (St. Andräkirche)

Located on Mirabell Square opposite Mirabell Palace, the new St. Andrew’s Church, completed in November 1898, showcases neo-Gothic architecture designed by Josef Wessicken and city architect Jakob Ceconi. Its façade is adorned with a distinctive rosette, and the interior follows a Gothic three-aisled layout, embodying themes of death and resurrection to create a reverent atmosphere without elaborate detail. The church also serves as a vibrant community hub, hosting the bustling Schranne farmers’ market every Thursday morning. Additionally, the spacious area around the altar is well-suited for large orchestras and choirs, making it an ideal venue for musical performances.
