Encore Tours Presents the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral Dublin: First-Ever Concert in Boston

Encore is excited to share some very exciting news with our blog readers. We will be hosting a free concert by the renowned Irish Choir of Christ Church Cathedral Dublin next month!

Early in 2019, Encore was contacted by the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland. The choir wanted to see if Encore could organize a concert for them in Boston as part of their 2019 U.S. tour. Every day at Encore we work with music directors across the United States to create fantastic performance tours around the world. So even though we’ve never organized a concert like this on our home turf, we were sure we could make it happen! We said yes and have been working with the choir on planning this concert for the last few months.

On Wednesday, July 17th at 7:30 pm, the renowned Choir of Christ Church Cathedral will perform a free concert at Old South Church in Boston’s Copley Square. All are invited and we hope you can join us! You can reserve your tickets online at bit.ly/ChristChurchConcert

About the Choir

 The Choir of Christ Church Cathedral enjoys an enviable reputation as one of Ireland’s finest choirs. Tracing its origins to 1494 with the founding of the choir school, the cathedral choir has always been highly regarded in Dublin’s musical life and took part in the first performance of Handel’s Messiah in Dublin in 1742. With the largest repertoire of any cathedral choir in the country, covering more than five centuries and including many works commissioned especially for it, the present choir is a mixed ensemble of around eighteen adult singers. In addition to singing at five cathedral services a wee, the choir is in demand for television and radio broadcasts in both the UK and Ireland, including BBC Radio Three’s iconic Choral Evensong and appearing on RTE’s Sunday Worship program and a special RTE Radio broadcast on St. Patrick’s Day. The choir has previously toured in Ireland, England, France, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, and New Zealand.
