Extend the Magic: Post-Festival Travel Ideas for Encore Voices Prague

Share

For choral directors and singers seeking a one-of-a-kind musical adventure, the Encore Voices Prague Festival offers something truly special. Taking place from June 7–12, 2026, this unique event brings together ensembles from around the world for a week of artistry, inspiration, and connection in one of Europe’s most enchanting cities.

At the heart of the experience is a performance of Brahms’ German Requiem, led by Festival Music Director Anthony Blake Clark, with artistic guidance from renowned conductor Simon Halsey. Choirs will rehearse and perform in Prague’s historic Rudolfinum, enjoy workshops and masterclasses with top choral professionals, and engage in guided cultural experiences that bring the city’s musical legacy to life.

What sets Encore Voices Prague apart is not just the exceptional music-making. It’s the opportunity to create something meaningful for your ensemble. Whether you’re looking to build community, develop artistry, or explore one of Europe’s most stunning cities, this festival is designed to be immersive, enriching, and customizable.

For groups looking to extend their time abroad, Encore offers a variety of optional post-festival extensions. These experiences allow choirs to continue performing, exploring, and growing through curated cultural programming. Here are two sample itineraries to inspire your planning:

Vienna: Classical Grandeur Meets Cultural Discovery

From elegant concert halls to cozy cafés, Vienna lives and breathes music. This three-night extension begins with a scenic transfer from Prague, including a stop in Brno. In Vienna, your ensemble can visit iconic landmarks like the Musikverein and St. Stephen’s Cathedral, explore the interactive House of Music, and attend a special Easter Sunday service featuring the Vienna Boys Choir.

Groups may perform in historic venues such as the Capuchin Church and enjoy a traditional Heuriger dinner with folk music and dancing. View the full Vienna itinerary.

Leipzig: Walk in the Footsteps of Musical Giants

For ensembles drawn to the roots of European music, Leipzig offers a deep and powerful alternative. This three-night tour visits the city where J.S. Bach composed many of his greatest works, and where Mendelssohn and Schumann shaped musical history. A guided city tour includes stops at Thomaskirche, Nikolaikirche, and the Mendelssohn House. Optional performances are available in local churches throughout Leipzig and nearby Halle, the birthplace of Handel.

Groups can explore the Grassi Museum of Musical Instruments and the Stasi Museum, then enjoy dinner at Auerbachs Keller, famously featured in Goethe’s Faust. View the full Leipzig itinerary.

Beyond the Samples: Your Journey, Your Way

Vienna and Leipzig are just two examples. Encore specializes in custom travel experiences, and we’re here to help you design the perfect post-festival journey. Some groups stay longer in Prague to explore its architecture, cuisine, and local concert scene. Others travel to cities like Budapest, Bratislava, Berlin, or Český Krumlov for even more performance and cultural opportunities.

No matter your vision, Encore will work with you to create a journey that reflects your ensemble’s goals, energy, and artistic spirit.
