San Jose

San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica, is the nation’s largest city. It is home to European-influenced architecture such as the National Museum, with its impressive exhibits of natural history and pre-Columbian art and artifacts; the University of Costa Rica; and the Teatro Nacional, which was built from coffee taxes and modeled after the Paris Opera House.

Monteverde

Monteverde is famous for its Cloud Forest. Founded in the 1950s by a group of Quakers from Alabama, the Monteverde Cloud Forest is home to more than 400 species of birds, 100 species of mammals and 2,500 species of plants. Here, groups can swing far above the forest floor on the world famous Monteverde Canopy Tour!

San Carlos

San Carlos is home to the famous Arenal volcano, among the most active volcanoes in the world. Groups may choose to visit the small town of La Fortuna, perform inside its beautiful church or explore the nearby rainforest with a bird’s-eye perspective on the flora and fauna of this unique ecosystem. On a clear night it may be possible to see the orange glow of lava flowing from the volcano above!

This gorgeous Neo-classical arts complex in central San José is considered to be the finest historical building in the capital city. Its interior contains lavish furnishings and décor. The theater’s use is highly limited and requires that groups go through a selection process prior to admission for performing. Teatro Popular Melico Salazar

The Teatro Popular Melico Salazar, located in San Jose, was inaugurated in 1928. It is named after Manuel “Melico” Salazar, a renowned Costa Rican tenor.
